Russian Kettlebells and Keeping Fit

Kettlebells can’t be called a new invention. Conjectures favored by experts on the subject date the instrument as having been invented early in the 1700s. Only recently have kettlebells skyrocketed to international fame, and at the time of writing they are as popular as any other fitness aid.

The easier exercise routines are performable by all, whatever their prior keep fit regime, and there’s no need to order expensive equipment. We wouldn’t advise going straight into the more complex exercises, though. As with any exercise system, the basic routines must be learned first. Most importantly, with kettlebells as with all weights, you have to be certain you buy the best weight for your strength level. You need less weight than you might assume when kettlebells are your chosen exercise. Dividing along gender lines, the eighteen lb weight is commonly sufficient for beginning women, and males making the change to this program would probably get the most out of a 35 pounder. The reason for this is that the benefit of this type of exercise actually stems from motion as opposed to how much weight is used. Ensuring you’re doing your exercises right is important, so purchase an instructional brochure or video to improve your workout.

In the beginning, before attempting any of the other kettlebell exercises you must learn a double-handed swing. As the origin point of many later techniques, the double-handed swing must be studied early - and it looks simpler than it is. Above all your movements must be fluid, rather than awkward. Always check you’re not lifting the kettlebell with your shoulders: use your hips instead.

Following mastery of this movement, you’re ready to try your hand at the more complicated routines. Add reps and sets into your preferred day’s exercises, and punch it all up by employing a selection of different music to make sure it all stays entertaining. More than one set can be included once you’re comfortable employing them, and to change things up fully you might maybe even alter the weight of the kettlebells. When you do this you have the chance to dodge the plateau which makes regular exercise less powerful.

It should be noted that should you start a workout program structured around Russian kettlebells intending to increase your muscle mass or to body build, the results won’t exactly enthrall you. What they will do is keep your weight down, develop muscle tone, and work on general fitness. Really, we advocate introducing a session working with the kettlebells into your wider exercise course. Don’t forget that you can choose how often to make use of the kettlebells. With a couple of sessions each week, it’s a nobrainer to maintain your general fitness levels; and if you up that to six or so you can reduce your fat and weight at an awesome pace…
